Description provided by Cosmic Patterns – the developers of Pegasus
Pegasus is a 'mini-Kepler' used by students and people who want access to the large number of high quality Kepler reports without paying for Kepler. It has all the basic calculations: natal, composite, solar and lunar returns, relocation charts, and progressed charts. It has several single and bi-wheels to choose from. It also produces transit-to-natal and progressed-to-natal listings so you can do astrological forecasting. It was originally designed as a calculation engine so people who wanted access to the wide array of Kepler reports could do so without buying the Kepler program. Over time so much has been added to the program that it is now also used by students of astrology who want a low-cost way to do charts.
Interpretive reports are a great way to get a head start on interpreting a chart. Pegasus comes with more types of reports than the other student software, but the reports are shorter. It comes with Cosmo Natal, Cosmo Compatibility, Cosmo Forecast and Major Life Themes reports. The forecast report does not include transits from Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. These are the most significant transits so if you anticipate using Pegasus for forecast reports, plan on purchasing one of the professional forecast reports from Cosmic Patterns.
Cosmic Patterns sells many professional level reports – a broader array than any other astrology software company. If you choose to upgrade to Kepler, all the reports automatically work in Kepler. If there have been any improvements to the report text you will get them, automatically, for free. (Note that this policy is true for Kepler owners as well. If you upgrade from an earlier version of Kepler to the latest version, you receive, at no additional charge, updated versions of any interpretive report options that have been improved.)
The interfaces of Pegasus and Kepler are very similar so if you choose to upgrade you will not have a big learning curve.
Accuracy and Time Range
Planets can be calculated from the years 999 BC to 2300 AD, except the 4 major asteroids and 8 trans neptunian planets which are calculated only from years 1722 to 2100. Accuracy of Sun and Moon is less than 1 second of arc, the other planets is 2 seconds of arc, and the accuracy for the asteroids, transneptunian planets, and Chiron is 1 minute of arc.

Customize existing report or create your own report from scratch. You can also translate an existing report to other languages.
Interpretive Reports
Cosmo Natal, Cosmo Compatibility, Cosmo Forecast and Major Life Themes. You can also purchase optional report interpretions. All of the optional interpretive reports that are available for Kepler are available for Pegasus as well! Suppose that you purchase several interpretive report options for Pegasus, and then later you upgrade to Kepler. Do you need to re-purchase the report options? No! All of your report options will work with Kepler, and if any of these reports have been improved, you will receive the latest version of these reports as well at no additional charge! (Note that this policy is true for Kepler owners as well. If you upgrade from an earlier version of Kepler to the latest version, you receive updated versions of any interpretive report options that have been improved at no additional charge).
Atlas
Pegasus does not have a complete atlas of the world. Only the largest 2 or 3 cities in each state or country are in the program. For other cities you must look up the daylight savings time and time zone information and coordinance. Personalize the Printouts: You can put your own name and address on the interpretive reports and chart wheels.
Pegasus is similar to the Kepler program, but has fewer features. Pegasus is like a 'mini Kepler' program. The price of Pegasus is $99, and the price of Kepler is $295. If you do not need all of the features of Kepler, then it makes sense to save $196 and purchase Pegasus instead of Kepler.
Suppose that you decide to purchase Pegasus, and later you decide that you wish to purchase Kepler. Pegasus owners can upgrade to Kepler for $199, instead of paying the full price of $295. Most of the cost of your Pegasus program is deducted from the purchase of Kepler if you decide to upgrade to Kepler at any time after purchasing Pegasus.
Features Not in Pegasus
There are many features of Kepler that are not available in Pegasus. Some of the major features of Kepler that are not in Pegasus are: Kepler has a complete atlas of the world, the Live Mini Reading, Avalon College, AstroEncyclopedia, the collection of over 400 beautiful graphic images, the data collection of thousands of charts of famous people and companies, AstroMaps, the ability to customize wheel styles, many astrological calculations such as midpoints, arabic parts, and harmonics, BiWheels, and TriWheels. All of the features that have been added to Kepler Version 4.6 (coming out in August, 1999) such as time line format of transits, heliocentric and altitude-azimuth charts, 40 minor asteroid positions, transiting declinations and eclipses, Treasure Maps, and advanced research capabilities are not included in Pegasus, and many more!
